Rookies Bar & Grill: A Friendly Local Hangout in Omaha

Had not been to Rookies before, seemed to be doing okay. Dropped in to check it out. Like others had commented, bar looks older, but that is okay. Has a full bar tables and dart boards. Sat at a table, service a little slow at first but was good after they realized we were there. Had a couple drinks and an order of onion rings, they are hand made with a tempora style batter, served with chipotle ranch. Took an order to go, wings, club sandwich, and taco basket with chips and cheese. Wings were good. Club sandwich wasn't your traditional club, but still enjoyed. Taco basket had two tacos, kind of small and oddly didn't have cheese. They still taste pretty good. All in all, I would go back, a lot of competition in that area though.

I am floored at how exceptional they treat you here. We sat at a packed bar and Neil introduced himself and asked our names. Neil introduced us to the other bartender, Cole, and Cole was so friendly and personable, I really couldn't believe I was in Omaha. Sure, I've had good service here, but never have I felt like I was part of the family from the moment I sat down. Usually I feel like I'm a nuisance. Neil and his staff make you feel like you matter. My hot roast beef with mashed potatoes was made in house and was fabulous. My husband's wings were great and the cheese sauce they serve with the pretzels is made in house and excellent. I definitely will be back and tell all my friends. Thank you Neil and Cole for making us feel so welcome and treating us to wonderful food!

Family friendly, friendly bartenders, waitress could use some coordinating but super friendly. It seemed as tho the more people that got in there, the louder everything got. It's a good spot! I will return for my Holy Water and I definitely will try the food next time...to be continued

We found this bar from our favorite bartender, Cole, who makes the best cocktails. The owners are awesome & so is the rest of the staff. Fun and friendly atmosphere. And usually the music is great too unless there is a game on. They also have a dart board and a pool table. Good selection of beers! I noticed they also serve some wine. I got the Philly cheesesteak with fries tonight, and I highly recommend. The fries are much better than the tots.

I was in town for work for 3 weeks and stumbling into rookies after reading reviews one night was the best part of the whole trip! Every single person that worked or even walked into rookies was not only kind, but treated us like we were locals in the way everyone learned and remembered our names and it felt like a home bar that I’ve been going to for years. 10 out of 10. The food was phenomenal (get the fries), the setting was perfect, and once again just all around great people that we met here!

Went for the first time due to a nice review I saw on Neighbor app. Greeted when walked in and my server just so happen to be Ms Cheryl, one of the ownersI told her how I found the place and I was introduced to her husband who gave us a little history and his start in the business. Nice people and atmosphere. He said his goal was to have his grandma to young children feel safe in his bar. Me and my sis overdid it and I paid for it later but I would return. Thanks guys!
